Beatrice Blake, author of The New Key To Costa Rica visited La Cusinga Lodge, located in Bahia Ballena de Osa near Uvita & Dominical!
Beatrice Blake, eco-travel consultant and author of The New Key to Costa Rica, made La Cusinga her home while revising her in depth guide. During her stay she was able to research new hotels, restaurants and activities, in the areas between the Dominical and Ballena areas. We are excited by her choice to stay with us at La Cusinga, as she has been writing about traveling through Costa Rica since 1982, and has a deep knowledge and appreciation for Costa Rican culture, history, politics and ecology.
This is what Beatrice has to say about La Cusinga,
“La Cusinga is a true eco-lodge, with respect and love for creation shown in its architecture, in its energy and water systems, and in the way the owners have done just enough to make things comfortable, without interfering with the natural, untouched feel of the place. The incredible views from every room, the tastefully prepared food, the forest giants and wildlife so at home in La Cusinga's reserve, and the beauty of nearby Playa del Arco, make this a very special and unique destination. Maintaining and protecting this natural paradise over the last three decades has been no easy task, and is still a challenge that the owners take on with courage and responsibility. The result is an unforgettable experience for nature lovers.”

Beatrice’s stay with us included activites such as hikes through the rainforest surrounding the La Cusinga property guided by John Tresemer, a pioneer in the conservation of the natural resources in Costa Rica, and owner of Finca Tres Hermanas & La Cusinga, as well as visits to beautiful Arco Beach. Her visit ended with a surprise visit from well known Costa Rican artist, Jose Calderon. Music and singing accompanied dinner, and Beatrice thrilled us by singing along with Ivo and Elias, our own resident folk musicians. We take great pride in creating a family atmosphere for our guests, as well as offering true intimacy with nature; an unspoiled Costa Rica. Thank you Beatrice for being our guest!
