After a few more years of John's weaving through bureaucracy and fighting against its environmental inertia, we watched proudly as Costa Rica declared our “own” beaches Ballena Marine National Park and that island seen faintly in the distance from our house and in whose waters we had ventured countless times the now-famous Caño Island Biological Reserve.
