The Gecko Restaurant

The well-maintained paths make for ideal self-guided exploration, though local guides can be arranged for the more curious naturalist. Additionally, the area offers a wide variety of activities, among them: whale-watching, snorkeling, surfing, horseback riding, canopy adventure, fishing, and sea or mangrove kayaking. The lodge also coordinates fun and informative activities highlighting reforestation, woodworking, furniture making, and tropical agriculture for those guests interested in learning about native Costa Rican traditions.

Finally, those wanting a peaceful journey of self-exploration through Yoga practice have chosen the right place. Our yoga facilities are some of the best in the country. Constructed on top of a hill facing Mother Ocean in all her greatness, nestled within the sounds and rhythms of the burgeoning forest, "Espíritu Salvaje" (Wild Spirit) is a place of tranquility and complete balance with nature. The design, based on ancient wisdoms and natural structures, incorporates smoothly all four elements: air, water, earth, and fire to create a refreshing, inspirational atmosphere free from modern distractions. To preserve the space from any negative energy, we used only local materials during the construction, including native woods harvested sustainably on our property.

ACCOMMODATIONS

La Cusinga includes eight open-air rustic "cabinas" designed to guarantee complete relaxation and comfort in this tropical paradise with refreshing ocean breezes and unparalleled views of Ballena Marine National Park. Each room holds one to three beds to accommodate a maximum of five adults. Consistent with our general commitment to sustainability, the cabins were constructed with sustainably-harvested native and exotic woods from our own reforested wood lot. Solar water heaters provide guests with hot water, while our unique La Cusinga craftsmanship flawlessly combines a concrete base with local stones and shells to create beautiful designs that wind throughout the cabin.

The hotel also provides larger parties the option of two "group rooms" with a capacity of 10 and 12 persons respectively. These options, located above our beautiful lookout, offer fantastic panoramic views of the Whale's Tail and the Central Pacific coast out to Caño Island and down to the Osa Peninsula and Corcovado National Park.
